Recyclable Material Collection Center
The Recyclable Material Collection Centers (RMCC) in Abu Dhabi are a key part of our environmental initiative, enhancing recycling infrastructure for residents. With 20 strategically located RMCCs managing 16 recycling streams, including paper and plastics, we divert waste from landfills. We plan to add 100 new units by 2025, with 50 more by Q1 2024, showing our commitment to environmental stewardship. Incentives are being explored to boost resident participation. These efforts highlight growing environmental awareness among Abu Dhabi’s residents, positioning the city as a leader in sustainable urban development.
Reverse Vending Machines (RVM)
Tadweer Group is leading the charge towards a more sustainable future for Abu Dhabi through an innovative recycling initiative in partnership with Nadeera. Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) are at the heart of this programme; machines that accept empty plastic bottles and aluminium cans, incentivising users to recycle. Tadweer Group has already rolled out an initial 25 RVMs across strategic locations in Abu Dhabi, with plans to significantly expand in the coming years. By making recycling convenient and rewarding, we are empowering the community to develop eco-friendly habits and play an active role in creating a greener, more sustainable future for the emirate.
Waste Compost Units
Discover the innovative world of Tadweer Group’s compost units, where sustainability meets community engagement. At these two units, strategically located in Abu Dhabi, individuals can exchange a bag of food waste for nutrient-rich compost, fostering a cycle of environmental responsibility. With on-site processing machines, food waste undergoes decomposition in just 6 – 8 hours, transforming into valuable compost.
Throughout 2023, each month the incoming waste was seamlessly processed without any rejections. This highlights the world-class efficiency of the composting units. With reduction percentages consistently above 74%, our commitment to effective waste management practices and sustainability is showcased through our state-of-the-art facilities. Join us in turning waste into valuable compost for a greener tomorrow.
Green Bins
Green bins are designated for collecting general recyclables, such as paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, and metal. These bins play a crucial role in diverting recyclable materials from landfills, where they would contribute to environmental pollution. By separating recyclables at the source and using green bins, individuals and communities contribute to conserving resources, reducing energy consumption, and minimising their environmental footprint.
Smart Bins
Smart bins are like regular bins, but smarter! They tell us how much waste is inside and what kind of waste it is. Residents use a Barcode Scanner to open the bin, deposit their waste, and close it. The app then calculates the weight of the waste. For waste collectors, sensors help us know when to empty the bins efficiently. These bins are a high-tech solution that handle the increase in waste as a result of our growing population and consumption habits. By using technology in waste management, we can make Abu Dhabi cleaner and more sustainable.
