Multi-sector event by Tadweer Group Youth Council highlights the vital role of young leaders in accelerating the UAE’s circular economy goals

Abu Dhabi, UAE, 21 May 2025: Tadweer Group, a pioneer in unlocking the value of waste, hosted the first edition of its “Empowering Youth Platform”. The event highlighted the role of youth in driving sustainability across the public and private sectors and supporting their active contributions in shaping practical and impactful initiatives that are aligned with the national goals—while reinforcing the fact that waste is a valuable resource that must be harnessed and transformed to secure a more sustainable future for generations to come.

The event was attended by over 50 participants, including 37 youth council members from leading organisations such as ADNOC, Mubadala, the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD), TAQA, NMDC Group, Emirates Youth Council, Abu Dhabi Ports, Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University, and more.

Khalid Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Federal Youth Authority, said: “Empowering the UAE youth is an essential part of the leadership’s vision that gives great importance to stimulating their energies in all fields, including sustainability. This is attributed to the country’s strong belief that youth are not only the beneficiaries of the environmental policies outcomes, they are also the main drivers in formulating these policies and transforming environmental challenges into real opportunities for future generations.”

“We, at the Federal Youth Authority, are working to launch creative initiatives and specialized programs that keep pace with the directives of the National Youth Agenda 2031, especially the economy that is based on enhancing the youth’s contribution in vital sectors to support sustainable and green growth by activating their roles and enabling them to lead in the sustainability system. This represents a national commitment to attracting distinguished competencies in circular economy and environmental sustainability,” Al Nuaimi added.

Abdulwahed Juma Farish, Executive Director of Communications and Awareness at Tadweer Group and Chairman of the Youth Council Committee, said: “At Tadweer Group, we believe that young generations are critical partners in driving change. They are not only the future of sustainability, but also the pioneers who will play a key role in creating a cleaner and more sustainable tomorrow. Through such events we reaffirm our commitment to enabling young leaders to effectively contribute to our circular economy ambitions. As Chairman of the Youth Council Committee, I am proud to support the platforms that amplify their voices, stimulate their energies and highlight their ideas.”
Several expert-led sessions were held during the gathering covering themes such as data-driven decision-making, placemaking, and public awareness. One of the key event outcomes was identifying more than ten potential cross-entity collaborations, reinforcing Tadweer Group’s role as a catalyst for youth-driven sustainability partnerships.

Following the launch of the Tadweer Group Youth Council at the 11th edition of EcoWASTE Exhibition and Conference earlier this year, this initiative reflects Tadweer Group’s broader commitment to engaging stakeholders at all levels to co-create sustainable solutions for a greener future.
